On a relaxed day off with my girlfriend, who worked at Japan Airlines LAX, we went for a walk in Redondo Beach. After a long walk, and nice conversation, she asked me if I liked Indian Food. I had little experience with Indian food, as we don’t find much in Brazil. She said, there is a place that she whole heartedly wanted me to try. So, she took me to Addis Tandor.
When we opened the door, it was another world inside. We were welcomed with warm Indian hosts, with big smiles. Just to warn you, it is best, if you have a reservation. When we arrived, it was packed with diners. If I am close to Addi’s Tandor, and it is crowded, I will order to take out.
I can honestly say this restaurant changed my thinking. Since then, I love the taste of Indian Food. Thanks to my girlfriend, I have found some totally different tastes, that I was totally unaware of, in earlier life. I truly love the deepness of this cuisine.
The little restaurant is in a corner of a shopping mall. For those who do not know this restaurant, it is easy to miss. And yet, Addi’s Tandor has been written up in the Los Angeles Times and the Daily Breeze, the local newspaper. Also, it is listed in the Zagat Guide (received awards, high scores for food excellence). Meals are prepared with fresh spices and herbs, nothing artificial and no MSG.
One final note: I tried to make Saag Panier, my favorite curry that I ordered there. But, alas, I could not get nearly close to their taste. What’s the secret? They won’t tell you. So, just go there, and try it.
