For those living in or near Los Angeles, you know there are plenty of Mexican restaurants. Some are not very good, some very good, and some special. SOL is special.
I had one of my favorite Mexican restaurants in Manhattan Beach. I was sad, when I returned and it was gone. But, sadness turned to happiness, when I found a New Mexican Restaurant, SOL in Playa Vista. SOL, in Spanish and Portuguese, means Sun. SOL has an authentic and unique décor, inviting atmosphere, with a fire pit, in an outdoor patio. Also, they have a private room, for celebrating personal or corporate events. This Baja-style cocina, is a true gem, with much to offer.
From their wood-fired grill, there are several dishes I recommend. First, award-winning, special tacos, their original sauces makes all the difference . Next, a monthly special, my favorite duck with tamale. So special, I suggested they add to their daily menu. And, their roasted corn, with chipotle sauce, is a must-try starter or side dish. It is added to my menu, when entertaining friends.
From their indoor/outdoor bar, you can sample 70 artisan, premium, and ultra-premium tequilas.
